Genealogy

What is genealogy?
  1. A record or account of the ancestry and descent of a person, family, group, etc.
  2. The study of family ancestries and histories
  3. Lineage, ancestry
What do these things mean to you?  It's so important to know where you came from because this information will help to shape your future.  The study of genealogy is very intriging, time consuming, and it can be expensive.  But it is definitely worth the effort.

I was blessed to grow up in the house with my paternal great grandparents so I got a first hand account of all that they knew about their (our) family history.  I believe this intrigued me from the time I was a small child.  My great grandfather, Woodie, was a historian in his own right.  Most mornings that I rose I was greeted by him with his cheery smile and a quote about what had occurred in history on that date, in some past year or decade.

When I became an adult I wanted to carry on the legacy for our family so I decided to undertake the task of doing a genealogical study of my family history.  Little did I know, this research can be consuming.  In this blog I would like to share with my family, friends and anyone else that is interested my family history. I will begin to research both my maternal and paternal lineage and post my findings for posterity.  In addition, I will share any resources that I unearth for other budding researchers.
